Mindfulness Based Practices:
Rest & Renew:
This class emphasizes the relaxation benefits of Yoga. Suitable for all levels, regular attendance leads to improved flexibility and relief of physical tension and pain. All poses are done on the back or abdomen and are customized to work at your unique level of flexibility. The end result is deep relaxation and physical recovery, improved sleep, and a mind for meditation. Props are provided to ensure safety and maximum comfort.
Yin Yoga:
In this class you will be guided into a variety of postures that work to dramatically improve your physical flexibility. Practiced on your back, abdomen, or in a seated position, poses are held for a longer period of time with individual instruction to use yoga props so you never experience any pain. Breathing practices and meditation techniques will be introduced to enhance your ability to retain the benefits which include a tension free body and mind.
Basic Alignment:
This class offers the alignment foundation for all Yoga postures. Techniques are taught to optimally position the body, increasing strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness. Working in this method will help to correct postural misalignments that contribute to patterns of stress and tension. If a muscle is holding tension unnecessarily it will pull on the bone it attaches to and cause a misalignment that if left untreated, over time, can lead to pain. These classes offer a therapeutic approach to Yoga, aligning the body to bring tension/pain relief especially for the lower back as well as the neck and shoulders.
Movement Based Practices:
Intro to Flow:
In this class you will build the foundation to practice Movement Based Classes, with an emphasis on proper alignment and flow in Sun-salutations and safe transitions in and out of poses. A focus on breathing techniques to help optimize flow and build internal heat, lending to the calm determination necessary to persevere and thrive as classes build from week to week.
Power Yoga:
Building on a sequence of poses, each class will help you to develop new levels of strength and flexibility and offers a total body cleanse, building heat and flushing out toxins. Heating the body will also better release deeply held muscular tensions. An emphasis on strong breath, continuous flow, energetic themes, mental focus, and core stabilization will help reveal the essence of the practice, meditation in motion. You can expect to dissolve stress and empty your tension on the mat, releasing struggle and stagnation.
Mandala Flow:
In this movement based practice the emphasis is fluid circular movement around the joints to improve flexibility of body and mind. Building variety from a sun-salutation based practice, learn Dancing Warrior and Mandala Namaskar flow sequences to heat the body and prepare for peak poses. Themes are given to each class that work with the energy flow of the seasons and lunar cycle. Some classes will be slow ,deep, and close to the ground while others are fast, enduring, and lifting to the sky. (This is a Donation Class, offer what you can with gratitude)
